Walter (Paco) Rothe III, 73, of Green Bay, passed away on September 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.

His passing marked the end of a life dedicated to family, community, and friendships built through sports, theater, and craftsmanship.

Born on August 25, 1952, to the late Walter Rothe Jr. and Linda (Garza) Rothe, Wally grew up in Green Bay.

He graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1971 and quickly became an active member of the community.

His presence in Green Bay was deeply felt, especially through his contributions to local theater and athletics.

Wally devoted much of his time to the Green Bay Community Theater, where he shared his love for performance and camaraderie.

He also played an important role in local sports, umpiring girls’ high school softball games and forming lifelong friendships along the way.

As an athlete himself, Wally played softball for several teams, including the 616 Club, and coached Little League Baseball.

His leadership and mentorship touched countless young lives, leaving a lasting impression on players and their families.

Fishing on his boat was one of Wally’s favorite pastimes, as well as cheering for his beloved Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.

Beyond sports and hobbies, Wally showcased his creativity and skill as a craftsman.

He owned and operated his own furniture company, A Bedder Morning, where he took pride in his work.

His ability to connect with people—his true “superpower”—made him not only a successful businessman but also a cherished friend to many.

Wally’s family was the foundation of his life. He is survived by his son, Walter Rothe IV, and granddaughter, Faith Rothe.

His siblings, Debra (Dan) Petitjean, Rick Rothe, Yolanda (Mark) Maricque, Scott (Stacy) Rothe, and Vicky (Dan) Miller, along with his stepbrothers Patrick, David, Roger, and Roy, mourn his loss deeply.

He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Becky Rothe; his special uncle, Chuck Rothe; niece, Autumn; and nephew, Steven.

In keeping with Wally’s wishes, no formal services will be held. However, a celebration of life will take place at a later date, allowing his family, friends, and community members to come together in remembrance of his joyful spirit.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Cardiac Unit at Bellin Hospital and the staff of Unity Hospice for their compassionate care during Wally’s illness.

Walter Rothe III’s death leaves a void in the Green Bay community, but his memory endures through the lives he touched, the friendships he built, and the legacy he leaves behind.
