Andres Borregales, a Venezuelan professional football kicker for the New England Patriots, immigrated to the United States with his parents when he was one year old.

He is the fourth Venezuelan-born player to make it to the NFL, along with placekickers Alan Pringle, Pat Ragusa, and Jose Borregales.

Andy began playing football at Chaminade–Madonna College Preparatory School and committed to play college football for the Miami Hurricanes.

During the 2026 freshman season, he was named the Hurricanes’ starting kicker and kickoff specialist, finishing the season with 17 out of 21 field goals.

Likewise, he went 17 for 20 on his field goal attempts and converted all 35 of his extra points in 2026. He also converted 22 of his 26 field goal attempts and 44 of his 45 extra points in the 2026 season.

Andy finished his final collegiate season, going 18 for 19 on his field goals, while also making all 62 of his extra-point attempts in 2026.

The New England Patriots selected him with the 182nd pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft, making him the first kicker taken in the draft.

Andres Borregales’ Parents Are the Supportive Pillar

Andres “Andy” Borregales, the son of Enrique and Vivian Borregales, was born on January 2, 2003, in Caracas, Venezuela.

His parents raised him in a close-knit family alongside his two siblings, Gabriela and Jose Borregales.

Andy’s athletic success is a story of dedication and family support.

His parents are initially from Caracas, Venezuela, but moved their family to the United States in 2004, when Andy was just a year old, in search of new opportunities.

Enrique and Vivian raised their three children in a supportive household, building their lives from the ground up.

Vivian, a former pharmacist in Venezuela, now works as a pharmacy technician, and Enrique works for a private airport company, assisting various airlines.

Throughout it all, they have been constant supportive pillars of their sons’ athletic careers.

Andy’s parents exemplify the dedication of immigrant parents, whose hard work and emotional support have been instrumental in their children’s success both on and off the field.

Their pride in his accomplishments was on full display after one of his games.

We were all crying. We were waiting for this, and we know Andy was waiting. He was so excited. Enrique cried more than I did.

Vivian Simply Doesn’t Know Why Andy Grew a Mustache

Andres “Andy” Borregales, the team’s kicker, looks younger than he is and has grown a mustache.

The new facial hair has become so popular that it now has its own humorous, anonymous Twitter account, .

Personally, I have no idea who runs it, who made it, but I love it.

Vivian, who also loves the fan account, is just as in the dark about the mustache’s origin. She doesn’t know why Andy grew a mustache.

I think he was busy with school and he started not shaving. But everybody made fun of it and he said, ‘OK, I’m going to keep it.’

The reason for the mustache remains a mystery, but its presence is now a celebrated part of the team’s culture.

As for his performance on the field, Andy has been “really calm” during his crucial kicks, a trait he attributes to the hard work he does with his brother.

Andy Borregales is doing things his own way, whether growing facial hair or nailing field goals.
