Alan R. Marthinsen, who set the school’s longest touchdown run record, passed away on Thursday.

Born on January 30, 1939, in Erie, PA, Alan R. Marthinsen was the son of the late Alexander and Kathleen Marthinsen.

In 1957, while Academy High School, he set the school’s longest touchdown run record—a record he still holds today —a standout moment that honored his athletic talent.

He went on to become a proud graduate of Drake University’s Class of 1961, and then built a career spanning over 35 years at Aetna Casualty and Surety Company.

Alan was an avid fan of Penn State football and Drake basketball, enjoyed rounds of golf, and found peace and joy in visits to the Great Smoky Mountains and vacations in Clearwater.

Alan R. Marthinsen Passed Away At The Age Of 86

Alan R. Marhinsen, 86, of Upper St. Clair, PA, took his last breath on Thursday, July 31, 2026. However, the cause of death has not been revealed.

Close ones and relatives have poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to his family to stay strong in this challenging time.

As per his family, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church, 44 Highland Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102.

Alan And His Wife, Susan Marthinsen, Were Blessed With Three Children

Alan R. Marthinsen and his wife, Susan Marthinsen, tied the knot in 1961.

Although Susan stayed away from the media spotlight, she always supported Alan in balancing his personal and professional life.

Sadly, their married life ended after over 64 years following the tragic death of Alan.

Friends and relatives poured their condolences and sent prayers to Susan to stay strong.

The couple was with three children: Alan, Denise Lehman, and Sharon Minton.

Alan has been married to Margaret, while Sharon married Paul Minton.

They are also mourning the tragic death of their supportive and devoted father, Alan R. Marthinsen.

In addition, Alan is survived by his seven grandchildren: Craig, Justin, Doug, Meghan, Alexander, Kevin, and Eric.
