In August 2026, Quentis Roper shared a heartfelt Facebook post that touched many people.
It marked the end of a grueling five-year custody battle, one that dragged on through the toughest parts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For Quentis and his family, this wasn’t just a legal win. It was a moment of pure joy, relief, and deep gratitude to God.
Quentis wrote with tears in his eyes:
“After 5 years of a custody battle that we thought would never end—especially in the middle of COVID—we are finally finished, completely done!”
ViaHe thanked God for keeping them in His favor and for allowing their family to stay together through it all.
Finally, they could say goodbye to the Dallas Family Court system for good.
At the center of this story is “Lil Reggie,” the boy Quentis met when he was just four years old. Quentis isn’t Lil Reggie’s biological parent, but their bond is unbreakable.
Quentis shared
“You would not know that I didn’t birth him because the love runs deep,”
Via FacebookHe calls Lil Reggie his first son, always and forever.
This child has taught him powerful lessons, how to love unconditionally and without bias, how to be patient, and why providing peace and stability for a kid in this crazy world is such a privilege.

The journey wasn’t easy.
They faced countless challenges and “many deals” along the way, but coming out on the other side felt like the biggest accomplishment.
Quentis called it a “flawless victory” for his boy. He’s excited to watch Lil Reggie grow up, make more memories with his classmates, and graduate one day.
He even joked that Lil Reggie, and maybe another child named Rylan are the best gifts his husband has ever given him.
That evening, the family planned to unwind with football and celebrate God’s mercy and grace.
Quentis quoted a meaningful Bible verse from Ephesians 2:8-9:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Via FacebookHe ended the post by shouting out Melody White and Blacc Reggie White.
It was great seeing them that morning before heading to court, and Quentis reminded them of his advice from years ago: just stay the course.
Now, he’s overjoyed that they made it through.
This custody battle through COVID highlights the strength of family bonds, faith, and perseverance.
For Quentis, it’s a reminder that love, like the one he shares with Lil Reggie, can overcome even the longest struggles.
It’s an inspiring story of triumph, unity, and giving thanks for the simple joys ahead.
