Although NFL player Josh Sweat’s parents, William Washington and Carlette Sweat, stay out of the limelight, they’ve been supportive throughout thick and thin.
His father, William Washington, and his mother, Carlette Sweat, have played a significant role in helping him achieve his success in his career.
They’ve been with him through every high and low, including a serious knee injury in high school.
It was a time when Josh was a five-star high school phenom at Oscar Smith High. But in his senior year, during a game against Western Branch High, he tore his ACL and damaged an artery in his knee.
Doctors warned he might never play again, but it was his parents who didn’t give up on him.
In a 2026 profile by Philly Cover Corner, his father, William, shared how Josh never had a “down moment.” He said,
It was never ‘Oh my God, I’m hurt.’ He always knew he would get himself back together.

For all the support, Josh has been nothing but grateful for the support he has received from his parents.
In a 2026 interview following the Cardinals’ win over the Cowboys, the NFL star expressed his gratitude for the people who had supported him during tough times.
Unlike his father, William, who remains away from the spotlight, his mother, , proudly shares his achievements on her Instagram.
Just before the Cardinals went against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, November 3, 2026, she took to her Instagram to hype her boy, writing:
Happy Monday Ya’ll It’s GAME TIME LET’S GOOOOOOOO CARDINALS🖤❤️
On his 28th birthday, she wrote:
