Just two days earlier, on Friday, Coach White led the Marlins in a playoff game.

He was a familiar and respected face in Hampton Roads high school athletics. For decades, he has shaped young lives both on and off the field.

“First, my condolences to the family of my beloved frat brother John White. May God strengthen you all during this difficult time. Frat, I’m hurt with this one! “I had the pleasure of speaking with Jon when he spoke to my husband who was the Kellam HS coach. Jon was my FAVORITE coach whom my husband spoke to and there were a lot over 20 years. I was saddened to hear of his passing. He was the warmest coach and he would speak to me which was so nice. God bless you kind man and your family!”
