Bryan Zapp, Cherokee County School District Police Officer and Father of Softball Standout Kyndal Zapp, Passes After Courageous Battle With Brain Cancer

Woodstock and Canton, Georgia, communities are mourning the untimely death of beloved resident, loving father, and army veteran, Bryan Zapp.
According to , Bryan Zapp passed away on November 27, 2026, after fighting a short and courageous battle with brain cancer.
Bryan Zapp touched the lives of many with his amazing career as a beloved army, detective, and school police.
In addition to his service to the country and his cheerful nature, Bryan Zapp was known as a loving father to his only daughter, 10-year-old Kyndal Zapp, a softball standout who plays for the Cherokee Warriors Softball Program.
Bryan Zapp guided his daughter, Kyndal, on her athletic journey from a very young age and often shared her achievements on social media, expressing his love and pride in her.
The untimely death of Bryan Zapp has left a profound void in the lives of his daughters, family, and loved ones.
Many of his loved ones are recalling the memories of the late Bryan Zapp and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
One wrote:
“Zapp was a warrior in every sense of the word. He served his country, he served his community, and even after everything he went through, finishing chemo just weeks ago, he still carried himself with strength and heart.But more than anything, what stood out to everyone who knew him was how devoted he was to his little princess, Kyndal. His love for her was the brightest part of who he was. Man oh man, he was a good GOOD father, and there was no doubt about.We’re grieving with you, and our hearts are with your family.”

“Anytime we talked he always spoke about his daughter. You just knew how much he loved his little girl! Please keep his family and especially his little girl in your prayers during this difficult time! He is going to be missed! ❤️”
Kayla HowellBryan Zapp Was a School Police Officer at Freedom Middle School
The late Bryan Zapp served as the school police officer at Freedom Middle School in the Cherokee County School District, where he was a great protector and loved being around kids.
Late Officer Zapp joined the CCSD School Police force, completed training earlier this year, and was assigned to the elementary school zone 3, including Ball Ground ES STEM Academy and Free Home ES.
Prior to that, Bryan Zapp served with the motor unit, criminal investigations, and traffic unit as a great detective for the Woodstock Police Department for over 19 years, and in the U.S. Army Military Police.
Cherokee County School District Police, GA, took to its official social media to pay tribute to a beloved member and wrote:
“Heartbroken. We lost one of the good ones. Officer Bryan Zapp was so much more than a badge.To his daughter, he was her world—an incredible, loving dad. To his friends, he was a rock. To his country, he was an Army combat veteran. To the students and staff at Freedom Middle School, he was a friendly face, a protector, and someone who truly loved being around kids.He served with dedication and a big heart. Our community is safer and was brighter because of him.”
The Zapp family will soon provide details regarding his funeral and memorial services. Bryan Zapp’s contribution to the Georgia community as an Army veteran, detective, and school police officer will always be remembered.
