Circleville Youth Soccer Association’s James “Jim” Edwin Meyer Passed Away at 86, Leaving Wife and Kids Behind!

James Edwin Meyer, affectionately known as Jim, passed away on August 26, 2026, in Circleville, Ohio, at the age of 86.

The beloved coach Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia Meyer, and his children: daughter Julie Meyer Rao and son-in-law Arving Rao, son Mike Meyer and daughter-in-law Nicky, and son-in-law Carlos Artiles.

Jim Meyer and his wife, Patricia, had been married for over half a century. They were married for 62 years before he took his last breath.

Thus far, Patricia hasn’t broken her silence on his passing, including their daughter, Julie, a former Director of Institutional Research and Assessment at Nazareth University, and son Mike.

Likewise, he also leaves behind his brother, Tom Meyer, and sister-in-law Teddy.

Jim loved his grandchildren, Tomas, Alejandro, and Sara Artiles, Shawn and Audrey Meyer, and Austin, Athena, and Deven Rao.

Likewise, he was also a proud father-in-law to Carlos Artiles of Hartland, Wisconsin.

Jim was preceded in demise by his parents, Edwin W. and Laurena Meyer, and his daughter, Kristi Artiles.

Born on August 18, 1939, in Napoleon, Ohio, Jim lived a life to the fullest. He grew up in Napoleon and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1957.

He went on to earn a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toledo in 1974. Later, his career took him to Owens-Illinois and then to DuPont, where he utilized his skills.

Jim helped start the Circleville Youth Soccer Association, providing kids with an opportunity to play and grow through sports.

Likewise, he also coached Odyssey of the Mind, a program that encourages creative problem-solving and inspires young people to think outside the box.

A man of faith, Jim was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Circleville.

Cars were one of Jim’s biggest passions. He was a proud member of the Roundtown Cruisers, the Porsche Club of America, and the Central Ohio Vintage Volkswagen Club (COVVC).

Known for his love of Volkswagens, Jim was always ready to lend a hand to a fellow car enthusiast in need.

A to celebrate Jim’s life is scheduled on Friday, August 29, 2026, at noon at Wellman Funeral Home in Circleville. Friends and family can visit from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. before the service.
