Claflin University Basketball Player Savion Brown’s Death Leaves Lasting Impact on Family and the Community

Savion Brown, a student and basketball player at Claflin University, tragically passed away, leaving behind his parents and the Claflin community in grief.

Brown was one of the brightest minds of the Claflin community and a senior computer science major.

While he was not fully involved in basketball, he was a member of the Claflin University basketball team and participated in multiple other tutoring programs and scholarship initiatives.

Claflin University Mourns the Loss of Basketball Player Savion Brown

Although the full details of Savion Brown’s passing have not yet been made public, his death was confirmed by the Claflin University Facebook page, where the university shared its condolences.

According to the Claflin community, Savion was a bright student and a kind soul who left this world too early.

Before his passing, Savion had secured an internship after completing his junior year at Claflin, an opportunity he earned through his hard work despite several injuries.

While his death has brought grief to the community, friends and family remember him for his kind soul and helpful nature. One Facebook comment reads:

I’m at a loss for words. Savion was a great kid. The world and his friends and family will never be the same. My deepest sympathy to everyone who knew and loved him.

Sharing sympathy and support to friends and family, another comment adds:

“Rest Easy Savion” (He was such a kind and good kid). My Condolences to his Mother and family and his friends. And my condolences to Khadijah “Aminah” Salam. He was loved much. And will be deeply missed. 

As of now, the funeral and visitation details for Savion have not been disclosed, but the Claflin University community has opened grief counseling sessions starting October 27, 2026.
