Manchester’s coach was ejected from the Elementary Football Game after the last buzzer in about 14 minutes at Peru High School for approaching the official in frustration.
Peru High School requested an extra patrol to ensure nothing happens after the game ends.
Youth sports can get surprisingly intense sometimes, and the excitement boils over when one of the coaches is ejected from the game.
It might seem shocking, but there are a few common reasons why a coach could be asked to leave. The most frequent reason is arguing with the referees.
Youth sports officials are often volunteers or part-time workers. A coach who yells, uses disrespectful language, or constantly challenges calls can be given a penalty and eventually ejected.
The coach is seen as the leader, and if spectators are being rude or disruptive, the referee may hold the coach responsible.
Coach Ejected at Elementary Football Game and Extra Patrol Requested as Precaution
A youth football game at Peru High School ended with the ejection of a coach and a call for an extra police patrol in September 2026.
The incident occurred with about 14 minutes left in the game between Manchester and Northfield’s 5th and 6th-grade teams.
The ejection followed a dispute over a ball placement call.
A Northfield player ran a play down the sideline and was awarded a first down after the ball was spotted.
However, the Manchester coach argued the player had stepped out of bounds a yard short. He approached the official in his frustration.
Just to clear something’s up the referee threw the coach out of the game for yelling at him(the ref) pretty hysterically and getting in his face for a ball placement dispute. Because of the way the coach acted, we just wanted to make sure the refs weren’t heckled or treated wrongly on there way out of game. The coach was respectful after the incident, and no other issues arose.
According to witness Adam Sheets, the coach either touched or attempted to touch the official while yelling. Later, he slammed his playbook to the ground, and the referee responded by ejecting him from the game.
The coach left the field peacefully and watched the remainder of the game from a distance.
However, Peru High School authorities requested an extra police patrol following the incident as a precaution to ensure the officials could leave safely and to prevent any further trouble.
Furthermore, school officials clarified that the request was a safety measure, not a judgment on the coach, who was respectful after the initial incident. No further issues were reported.
Peru wasn’t even playing. They were hosting the elementary school aged football games today. This wasn’t one of our coaches at all just an fyi!! We have wonderful football coaches from elementary to middle school to high school!! Just putting that out there.
