Coach Tim Parker, the Long-time PE teacher at L&N STEM Academy, Multi-sports Coach and Former Athletic Director at the Episcopal School, Passes away at 66
He inspired thousands of students in his career, due to his positivity.

Timothy “Tim” Sanders Parker, the resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, who was known as “Coach Parker” by countless students, athletes, and parents, has passed away at the age of 66.
Tim is survived by his better-half, Missy Parker, who has been married for over 35 years, and their children, Kathy Potter, Macy Parker, and Sam Parker.
The coach took his last breath on September 29, 2026, at Sacred Ground Hospice House, surrounded by his wife and three childrens.
He earned a degree in Physical Education from Virginia Tech and a Master of Education degree from the University of Tennessee.
Later, he began his professional career as an academic advisor at UT and also served as Associate Director of Academic Advising in the College of Business.
He Filled Every Role with Joy and Dedication
After spending several years as an advisor and director, he followed his passion and served as an Athletic Director at the Episcopal School of Knoxville.
In the school, he also filled roles as a Dean of Students, P.E. teacher, and multi-sport coach. Being a coach too, Tim always had time to attend his children’s sports events.
All his roles were filled with dedication, energy, and humor. He also taught at L&N STEM Academy, helping every child feel seen and valued. He also coached his daughter’s “T-Rex Jaguars” soccer team. On behalf of the Academy, Jimm Allen wrote,
“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Tim Parker, a beloved and long-time PE teacher at the L&N STEM Academy. Coach Parker touched the lives of countless students and colleagues with his enthusiasm, humor, and dedication to helping every student find joy in movement and wellness. Though he retired from L&N, his legacy continues to live on in the spirit of our school community.”
From flag football to bowling, Tim coached it all, but he wasn’t entirely focused on winning; he was focused on building entertainment, teamwork, and confidence.
From coaching a soccer team or supporting swimmers at summer meets, Tim Parker brought high energy and encouragement to everywhere he was involved.
Tim’s teams knew him as a coach who cared deeply about each athlete, regardless of age, skill level, or background.

His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, and I feel so grateful to have known him. Rest in peace, dear Coach. You’ll never be forgotten,” wrote former student Kathy.
Another student added, “Such a huge loss. He was always one of my all time favorites. I wish I had had a chance to reconnect with him after graduation. He really was a treasure to all who knew him.”
Tim undoubtedly touched the lives of many individuals throughout his career and was known not just as a great coach but also as a kind, amazing, and positive human being.
