Former Ipswich High School Varsity Basketball Player Greg Watts, 34, Died Suddenly, Leaving Parents and Brother Behind!

34-year-old basketball player Gregory “Greg” Watts passed away on November 22, 2026. However, the reason behind his sudden demise remains concealed.

Greg Watts is survived by his parents, Judith “Judi” McMahon and Bob Watts, and his younger brother Brian Watts.

He leaves behind several aunts, including Dorothy McMahon.

Likewise, he is also survived by his uncles, cousins, extended family, and his many friends in Ipswich.

Following the untimely passing, Brian, his brother, took to his Facebook to express his grief, calling him the best big brother anybody could ever ask for. He wrote:

R.I.P to the best big brother anybody could ever ask for, I have no idea how im ever going to get through this, I love you so much Greg Watts I always will. Please help me from up above God knows I need all the help I can get especially now, I love you so much Brother💔

Similarly, he also updated his Facebook profile picture to one featuring them during their childhood.

In another post, Brian wrote how much he loved Greg and promised to make him proud, which reads:

I Love You so much Greg Watts you are my only brother please look over me forever I need you more than ever so do mom and dad, I promise I will make you proud of me and be the man you always told me I could be

Gregory Watts’ aunt, Dorothy McMahon, created a GoFundMe campaign to help his family with his funeral expenses.

The GoFundMe description read:

I am asking for help with his funeral expenses so we can celebrate this precious life with the love he deserves and to give those closest to him solace.

Greg Watts was a dedicated basketball player at Ipswich High School.

He began his high school athletic by joining the varsity boys’ basketball team at Ipswich High School in December 2009, during his sophomore year.

As a member of the Tigers, he contributed to the team over the past few seasons, helping build school spirit through competitive games and practices.

Yolanda, one of his relatives, also shared her words through a tribute post, which reads:

Sadly, we lost a truly admirable person much too soon, but we haven’t lost his wonderful soul. Please consider sharing to help our family honor Greg Watts with closeness, great memories and love 🤍
He was a quiet, steady strength in our lives—someone people naturally looked up to. Though he’s no longer with us, the jokes, memories and spirit lives on forever.

Growing up in Ipswich, Massachusetts, Greg cultivated a passion for youth sports and was involved in one as well.

He loved Boston sports and enjoyed attending games at the Garden and other venues.

Above all, Greg had just bought tickets to a Celtics game and had purchased a new C’s shirt to wear.

He had an outgoing personality that made everyone feel at home. Greg never uttered or badmouthed anyone.

Thus far, intricate details surrounding his memorial and funeral services have yet to be published by his family.

During this challenging time, we pray for the strength of Greg’s parents, brother, friends, and extended family.
