Former Jacksonville State Gamecocks defensive lineman turned coach, Martez House, better known as Coach House, went through a terrible head-on car accident with his 6-year-old son, Nash, on December 14, 2026, right after taking part in a Christmas parade.
People who responded first, like emergency medical services and police officers, said they were very fortunate just to survive something so terrible.
Martez sustained severe injuries, including a broken ankle, a broken shoulder, broken ribs, fractures in three places along his back, and a lacerated liver.
Meanwhile, doctors have him in the intensive care unit. Thankfully, none of his injuries needed surgery at this point.
Reportedly, when emergency workers arrived at the scene, Martez was unconscious, and afterward, he experienced some memory loss about what had happened.
But by this morning, his memories were starting to come back.
Whereas his son, Nash, born on November 14, 2026, also suffered several serious injuries in the accident, including a broken femur in his leg, a broken humerus in his arm, a broken elbow, several broken ribs, and even a collapsed lung.
Unlike Coach House, his son Noah had to go into surgery last night, and the operation finished around midnight.

Everything went the way the doctors hoped, and now he is recovering well, though he will need to use a wheelchair for quite some time ahead.
Meanwhile, because of his injuries, Martez cannot work for some time, losing the income he earns from coaching and training kids.
Hence, a fundraiser has been set up on to help ease the financial burden.
Jacob’s Ladder Preschool, where Coach House teaches physical education to the VPK students and where Nash was once a student, expressed their concern. They asked for prayers for the father and son duo, writing:
Yesterday, Coach House and his son Nash were in a horrific car accident. Today we are asking for the help of our JL families to rally around them, cover them in prayer, and donate if you are able.
Jacob’s Ladder Preschoolstarted his football journey back in high school at Crestview High School in Florida, where he played under coaches Matt Brunson and Kevin Pettis.
Later, his skills took him to Jacksonville State University in 2011, and he took a redshirt year to adjust and develop without playing in games.
Then, in 2012, he made his college debut in just one game against Eastern Kentucky, finishing with two tackles, including one for a loss that showed his potential right away.
The following year, in 2013, brought his biggest contributions when he appeared in 13 out of 15 games for the Gamecocks, recording 22 tackles along with one and a half for losses and even forcing a fumble, with standout moments like six stops against Eastern Kentucky and key plays in playoff wins that helped the team advance.
Unfortunately, an injury kept him sidelined for the entire 2014 season as a redshirt senior, bringing an early end to his playing days on the field.
After college, Martez turned his experience and passion for the game toward coaching and training young athletes.
He poured his passion into coaching, and people who know him can see how much he loves the sport.
Meanwhile, the family and community are coming together to pray for both Martez and Nash, asking for healing and a quick recovery.
During this challenging time, we pray for the speedy recovery of Coach House and his son, Nash.
