As per various sources, former varsity golf player and rock climbing team member Maggie Skinner passed away, leaving everyone devastated.

Margaret “Maggie” Skinner was a dedicated pre-nursing student who was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Baylor University, where she was enrolled in the Pre-Nursing Studies program and expected to graduate in 2027.

Alongside her , Maggie gained extensive customer-facing experience through her role as a Member Services Representative at The Beach Club in Santa Monica, where she worked for over two years.

She served as a primary point of contact for members and guests, handling phone and email inquiries, managing reservations, coordinating club events, and ensuring a welcoming, professional environment.

Early in her career, Maggie served as a Summer Camp Counselor at The Beach Club, where she supported and supervised children, fostering teamwork, safety, and positive engagement.

A graduate of Marymount High School, where she participated in Varsity Golf, Maggie also remained active on campus through involvement in the Baylor Chamber of Commerce.

Former Marymount High School varsity golf player Maggie Skinner took her last breath on Thursday, December 18, 2026.

However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.

Baylor University took to its official Facebook handle to announce the tragic news. They wrote,

Baylor Mourns Death of Current Student. It is with deep sadness that we share the news about current Baylor University student Maggie Skinner, who died unexpectedly on Thursday. Please hold her family close in prayer as they navigate this very difficult time. Students who need additional support can contact University Chaplain Dr. Charley Ramsey at 254-710-3517 or and the Pastoral Care staff in Spiritual Life, which includes Resident Chaplains in each of our residence halls. The Baylor Counseling Center and Care Team Services also are available for students. Additional resources for faculty and staff can be accessed through the University’s Emotional Wellbeing Solutions Program.

Betsy Parton Winkler took to the comment section and offered heartfelt condolences.

This broke my heart when my daughter called in tears about it last night. I cannot imagine what the Skinner family is going through, along with Maggie’s friends and roommates. Dear Jesus hold them close now and in the days, weeks and months to come. Praying for your peace that passes understanding

Shanna Brajkovic-Mohr sent prayers to Maggie’s family to stay strong in this difficult time.

My deepest condolences and prayers are with her family, her friends, and all the Baylor family. May God wrap them in the comfort of his love and guide them through this. I know I’m going to be hugging my Bear a little tighter.

Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Maggie’s family to stay strong.

Her family will soon reveal the funeral services schedule.

During the first week of the spring semester, Baylor University Spiritual Life will hold a gathering at the Bobo Spiritual Life Center for Maggie’s friends, classmates, and the faculty and staff who knew her to join together in prayer and remembrance.
