Dave Nezat, a former St. Edmund football team’s linebacker, passed away in his sleep due to a heart attack on August 26, 2026.
He fully lived his life and had no signs of struggle from an apparent massive heart attack.
Nezat played linebacker on the St. Edmund football team, where he was ranked among the record holders and breakers.
Although he left St. Edmund, he visited his alma mater a couple of years ago and met the players who broke his long-standing football record.
We are deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Our hearts and prayers go out to David’s family during this difficult time. May he be remembered for the legacy he left both on and off the field.
After graduation, he joined the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1984. He studied Business Administration and Management, and Minors in Sociology and Humanities.
Furthermore, Nezat ventured into several businesses. He co-owned Furniture Centers and served as vice president of business development at Conns Appliances.

He was a fixture in the community, known not only for his musical talents but also for his kind and sincere nature.
His siblings, Ron, Chad E., and Dennis Nezat, remember him as a guiding light and a source of immense pride.
