Former athlete and dedicated EMS professional, Daria Deibele, passed away in December 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, and achievement.

While the cause of her passing has not been shared, her passing has left a deep impact on everyone who knew her, her family, friends, teammates, colleagues, and the communities she served.

, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, was a student from Duluth, Minnesota, majoring in German and premed.

A 2026 graduate of Duluth East High School, she excelled in athletics, competing in tennis for six years.

During that time, she earned five varsity letters, with appearances at the state tournament in 2013 and 2016.

Additionally, she became a valued member of the .

For Daria, rowing was more than a sport; she once said:

Wisconsin rowing means to me hardworking, striving for excellence, being persistent and being part of a family. We are a family and we care about one another. We hold each other accountable and push each other to do their best so we can do our best.

Beyond her academic and athletic achievements, Daria dedicated herself to serving her community through emergency medical services.

She joined Waunakee Area EMS in 2026 as a volunteer EMT-Basic, later completing Paramedic school and transitioning into a full-time role in early 2026.

Earlier this year, she continued her service part-time with Whitewater Fire and EMS.

Known for her skill in patient care, her bright personality, and her unmistakably infectious laugh, Daria was deeply respected as a colleague, friend, and sister.

Daria’s passing has left a profound impact on her family, teammates, and EMS community, who remember her for her commitment, compassion, and joy.

Waunakee Area EMS shared a heartfelt confirmation of Daria Deibele’s passing, honoring both her professional contributions and her personal warmth, writing:

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Daria Deibele, a valued member of our EMS team…Out of respect for the family’s privacy, no additional details will be shared at this time. We will provide service information once it becomes available from Daria’s family.

Daria Deibele is survived by her parents, and Al Deibele of Duluth, Minnesota, and her brother, Joey.

As her parents have requested privacy during this difficult time, details regarding a formal service or celebration of life have not been announced.
