Zaiden Minor, the coin toss kid at a recent Wake Forest Football game, will launch his book, Zaiden’s Super Cells on the Court, on January 1, 2026.
His book was created for every child with a disease who has been told that playing sports may not be an option for them.
Zaiden Minor is full of energy and loves reading, playing sports, and spending time with his siblings while managing sickle cell disease.
He had an unforgettable experience as the honorary “coin toss kid” at a Wake Forest football game.
He watched pregame warm-ups from the sideline, joined the referees and team captains for the coin toss, and enjoyed the game with his family as special guests.
His journey shines as a powerful reminder of how early diagnosis, dedicated medical care, and strong support from family and friends can help children with sickle cell disease.

Sadly, their son was diagnosed with sickle cell disease at birth and needed specialized care to stay healthy.

His care at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital has included monthly blood transfusions and daily medication to stay healthy for years.
As he grew older, he faced symptoms like high fevers and painful swelling in his hands.
He learned to navigate his disease through regular check-ups and a compassionate care team, enduring surgeries and hospital visits with incredible bravery.
