The community of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Evan Michael Johnson, who passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at just 17 years old.
A rising senior at Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Evan was cherished by family, friends, and teachers.
Evan was the beloved son of Caren Mayeaux Johnson and Robert L. “Bobby” Johnson III, and the loving brother of Tyler James Johnson and Emily Elizabeth Johnson.
Moreover, Evan is survived by his loving girlfriend, Kayden Carrere, as well as a large extended family and friends.
Evan Michael Johnson Was A High School Golfer
Born and raised in Belle Chasse, Evan attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School before becoming a proud student at Jesuit High School.
He was an active member of the Sodality and played on the Varsity Golf Team.
Moreover, a true “bayou boy,” Evan found peace and purpose in nature. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time on the water.
He worked at B&B Tackle, helping others gear up for their own outdoor adventures, and sometimes served as a deckhand for Calcutta Gold with Captains Eric Newberry and Josh Edwards.
He was also a junior member of English Turn Country Club, where he continued to pursue his passion for golf.
Those who knew Evan described him as wise beyond his years, a young man with an old soul who could connect with anyone, regardless of age.
His contagious laugh, humility, and easygoing nature made him a light in the lives of all who met him.
Jesuit High School Mourns A Devoted Student
Jesuit High School released a heartfelt statement mourning the loss of one of its most promising students:
“Jesuit mourns the loss of rising senior Evan Michael Johnson. A proud Blue Jay, Evan was a member of the National Honor Society, the Sodality, and the varsity golf team. Known for his deep faith, generous spirit, and love of the outdoors, Evan touched many lives with his humility, kindness, and joyful heart. He will be deeply missed by his classmates, teachers, and the entire Jesuit community.”
Fr. John Brown, S.J., president of Jesuit High School, also shared a moving letter with students:
“Moments like this are deeply painful and difficult to comprehend… But our faith calls us to a deeper truth. God made us for life in abundance and eternal… Let this loss prompt reflection and inspire action. Above all, be attentive to those around you. Let compassion guide you…”
Evan Johnson’s passing is a profound loss not only for his family but for the entire Belle Chasse and Jesuit communities.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Friday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse.
Rest in peace, Evan!
