Ben Golub, a single dad from Los Angeles, alleges that his former wife has been dating his son’s blue belt coach, Brandon Greaves.
He just lost his job and couldn’t afford to fight for child custody.
When parents separate or divorce, deciding where the children will live is one of the most important matters to settle. This arrangement is called child custody.
There are two main types of custody: physical and legal custody.
Physical custody determines where the child will live, and legal custody makes major decisions about the child’s life, including their education, healthcare, and religious upbringing.
The most essential principle in any custody decision is the best interests of the child.
The goal is always to create a parenting plan that supports the child’s happiness, security, and healthy development, even when parents live apart.
LA Dad’s Perfect Storm: Job Loss, Custody Fears, and a Betrayal on the Mat
Ben Golub is facing what he describes as an unimaginable series of hardships, culminating in a fight for his children amid allegations of a profound personal betrayal.
In a series of emotional Facebook posts, he outlines a devastating year where he lost his mother, was in multiple car accidents, and went through a divorce.
Ben now alleges his ex-wife is dating his son’s jiu-jitsu coach, Brandon Greaves of Gracie Barra Tarzana, a man he once considered a friend.
I literally had to catch them and show her pictures to even admit it.
He claims the relationship has created a volatile situation, leading him to be shunned by his former training community.
The personal crisis has spilled into every aspect of his life.
Ben recently lost his job, which he attributes to his “head not being in the game” while dealing with the fallout.
He feels outgunned in the coming custody battle, pointing to his ex-wife’s financial advantage from a multi-million dollar inheritance.
Moreover, Ben’s posts reveal a man feeling trapped and baited.
He alleges he was lured into saying horrible shit and was even told to go to Brandon’s house, where he was informed of the coach’s gun collection.
In a moment of dark humor and despair, he wondered if he should challenge Brandon in a duel, even though he’s probably not going to win, in all honesty.
At the heart of Ben’s anguish is his concern for his children.
The kids need their mom or a guardian not a nanny not the mother-in-law but a mom and or dad.
Furthermore, Ben acknowledged himself as not perfect and portrays Coach Brandon as a predator who exploited a vulnerable situation.
His story offers a raw look at one father’s struggle to keep his family intact when, as he puts it, “all the doors have closed.“
