Struthers, Ohio Resident and MLB Veteran Andrew “Andy” John Kosco, 84, Leaves Behind His Wife of 63 Years, Cathy, and Five Children

The MLB and the Ohio communities are mourning the death of former professional baseball outfielder Andrew John Kosco, aka Andy Kosco.

Andrew John Kosco passed away on December 19, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving his wife, children, and loved ones devastated.

Andy touched the lives of many with his remarkable decades-long MLB career playing for the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, California Angels, Boston Red Sox, and Cincinnati Reds.

In addition to being an exceptional baseball player, Andy Kosco was also a devoted husband to his longtime wife, Cathy Huzicko.

The late Andy and his wife, Cathy Huzicko, were school sweethearts. They met in 8th grade and were together until Andy’s recent demise.

Andrew John Kosco and Cathy Huzicko tied the knot in 1962 and were happily married for over 63 years.

Furthermore, the couple raised all five of their children, two sons, Bryn and Dru, and three daughters, Ranee Mannion, Cheryl Kaltenback, and Kerry Shannon, to be successful in their respective fields.

Late Andrew John Kosco’s Sons, Bryn and Dru Are Both Former Professional Baseball Players

Both of Andy and Cathy Kosco’s sons, Bryn and Dru Kosco, followed in their late father’s footsteps in sports and played baseball professionally.

Bryn and Dru Kosco both reached the Triple-A level in the minor leagues.
, born on March 9, 1967, played as a third baseman and first baseman.

He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 15th round of the 1985 MLB June Amateur Draft and the Montreal Expos in the 8th round of the 1988 MLB June Amateur Draft.

Bryn played high school baseball at Seminary High School in Poland, Ohio, and later continued his collegiate career at North Carolina State University, leading his team in several victories.

Talking about Andy and Cathy’s elder son, , he was born on February 21, 196,5 and played collegiate baseball at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Dru was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 13th round of the 1986 MLB June Amateur Draft.

Furthermore, Andy Kosco owned and ran an Insurance Agency named Kosco Insurance with his sons, Bryn and Dru, later in his life until his recent passing.

In addition to his wife and children, Andy Kosco is survived by his sons-in-law, Martin Mannion, Jerry Kaltenback, and Dan Shannon; his daughters-in-law, Dianne and Nicole, grandchildren, Gabriell, Rachel, Andrew, Connor, Cole, Nolan, Chloe, Brady, Brooklyn, Bryan, Connor, and Colten, siblings, nieces and nephews and the entire family.

His family has organized a for the late Andrew John Kosco on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Andy will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 2729 Center Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
