Ryder Michael Floyd, a dedicated junior golfer of Mount Paran Christian School, passed away at 15 from complications related to Type 1 Diabetes on September 29, 2026.
His life was brief but filled with love, laughter, and a spirit that inspired everyone who knew him.
Ryder was a ninth-grader at Mount Paran Christian School (MPCS) known for his bright spirit and competitive heart. His greatest passion was golf, which he practiced daily.
Golf was a thrilling challenge and a source of friendship for Ryder. He was famous for his competitive grin, especially when making a friendly bet or surprising an opponent on the course.
Moreover, his interests extended far beyond the fairway, and he expressed his creativity through art.
Ryder was a lifelong baseball player, forming bonds with teammates that lasted long after the game. He was a fiercely loyal fan of his favorite teams: the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cincinnati Reds.
Ryder Michael Floyd’s Family Mourns the Tragic Loss
Ryder Michael Floyd, the son of Hollie and Erik Caldwell, was born in 2010 in Kennesaw, Georgia. His parents raised him in a close-knit family alongside his two brothers, Spencer and Carter Floyd.
He was a bright and beloved young man who left this world far too soon on September 29, 2026, from complications related to Type 1 Diabetes.
Ryder’s greatest gift was his ability to make people laugh. He possessed a quick wit, a playful heart, and a smile that could light up any room.
His friends, teammates, teachers, and family will forever remember the immense joy he brought into their lives and his unique talent for making everyday moments feel brighter.
He faced the challenges of Type 1 Diabetes with tremendous courage, strength, and determination, qualities that inspired all who knew him.
Similarly, he approached life with the same joy, curiosity, and grit that he applied to his health, reminding us all why the fight for a cure matters so deeply.
Ryder is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. His parents, brothers, extended family, teammates, coaches, and his friends survive him.
His gentle soul is at peace, reuniting with his late father, Matthew Floyd, and surrounded by the eternal love of Christ.
The Floyd family announced a service celebrating Ryder’s life on Thursday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Paran Christian School in the Murray Arts Center, Kristi Lynn Theatre.
Students who wish to attend will have the opportunity during PRT and lunch between their classes. A light lunch will be served following the service.
In honor of Ryder and to raise awareness about the condition he bravely faced, the Floyd family asks that students wear blue shirts that day.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Ryder’s honor to the , to help advance the fight for a world without Type 1 Diabetes.
T1D is relentless, demanding constant monitoring, insulin injections, carb counting, and unwavering vigilance. The outcomes can be uncertain even with the most diligent care.
I’m sick and tired of seeing perfect children die from Type 1. RIP, Ryder. Sarah and I will keep fighting for a cure, you have my word. 🥺
