Ashley Pate took to Facebook to share a deeply moving story about a mother she met at Dollar General.
While buying wipes and a small basketball toy for her son, Ashley started chatting with the cashier, who opened up about her life.
She had just regained custody of her children after battling addiction and was preparing for a job interview at the prison.
Ashley praised her strength, and the woman began to cry, saying no one had ever told her they were proud of her.
Ashley’s post also mentioned that , owner of Izabella’s Daycare, had reached out to help this mother as well.
A Brave Mother Trying to Restart Her Life After Addiction and Abuse!
In her detailed post, mentioned that she later saw the same mother again, dropping her son off at daycare with a big smile on her face.
She had gotten the job and shared that she and her kids were living in a domestic violence shelter because their father had found them before.
Every day, she walks two miles to catch a bus, drops her kids off at different places, goes to work, and repeats the journey in the evening.
That morning, she told Ashley she’d just signed a lease for an apartment.
Ashley’s post focused on how this mother had overcome addiction and abuse, worked hard to rebuild her life, and now needed help starting fresh.
She even asked the community to donate clothes, toys, or household items to support her and her children, saying:
She and her little ones are starting from scratch with nothing but a few pots and pans. If anyone has anything to spare.. furniture, home items, or clothing, old toys you’re throwing out with Christmas being around the corner.. anything at all please reach out to me
Girl (size 6)
Boy (4T)
She further addded:
Let’s come together and show this mama that even if she doesn’t have family, she’s got a community of women who are proud of her and ready to help her build their new home/ safe place.
In her post, many people responded, sharing their POVs and offering help.
One person said,
I have a ton of clothes that I need to go through. I don’t have 4T in little boy clothes, but I do have size 4/5 and I know for a fact that I do have some little girl size 6!
Another shared,
Thank you all so, so much. I can meet you, porch pick-up, or you may even drop the items off at Izabella’s Daycare Center. Witch-ever is easier for you. 🥹 I can’t wait for her to see everything you’ve all done for her and her babies. With her permission, once they’re settled in, I’ll ask if I can share a photo so everyone can see the amazing things that happen when a community comes together to lift someone up and help them make their new house a home.
Their words highlighted how proud and willing the community is to support this mother’s new beginning.
If everyone helps her at the beginning, this brave mother can finally build a safe and loving home for her children.
