August Green, a queer coach with AMG Performance Coaching, has faced harassment and discrimination throughout their journey, yet has transformed those experiences into a source of empowerment for others.

Even before beginning their transition, August experienced moments of harassment in women’s locker rooms.

I struggled with this even before I transitioned,” they . On one occasion, a woman yelled at August, insisting they were in the wrong space.

Another time, while using a bathroom in Las Vegas, a custodian questioned their presence.

These experiences, combined with being in the early stages of their transition, heightened August’s anxiety around gyms.

As I started to masculinize, especially when my voice dropped, my chest worried me a lot,” August shares.

“I constantly ruminated on what people would think of me or what they might do.”

Determined not to let fear control their life, August made a conscious decision to prioritize personal goals over external judgment.

It didn’t mean I suddenly went to the gym with no fears,” they explain.

“I went with my fears in the passenger seat but refused to let them drive the car.”

August emphasizes that fear is valid but should not prevent anyone from reaching their goals.

You deserve to take up space in the gym. You deserve to reach your goals. And I believe in your ability to do so,” they say.

Today, Coach August uses their experiences to inspire and empower others, demonstrating that resilience and self-belief can transform fear into strength.

With love and encouragement, August continues to guide individuals toward confidence, growth, and self-acceptance—reminding everyone that they deserve to occupy space safely, authentically, and unapologetically.
