Selma Bandits Longtime Football Head Coach Tony Vargas Dies, Leaving Family Heartbroken!

Selma Bandits football head coach and general manager, Tony Vargas, passed away on November 7, 2026.
Thus far, the details surrounding his untimely demise remain concealed as his family is grieving in private.
Tony Vargas spent almost two decades, i.e., 18 years, at Selma Bandits.
Selma Bandits shared a tribute post after his passing. In the post, they thanked him for his years of dedication to coaching all the kids, which reads:
It is with great sadness that we Selma Bandits announce the passing of Our Beloved Long Time Coach Tony Vargas. The endless time & dedication you gave all the kids each and every season for the last 18 years or so, some of who you continued to support into High school football and beyond will never be forgotten🖤
“Once A Bandit.. Always A Bandit Coach! We Will Miss You!” the post ended.
Julio Diaz announced the passing of Coach Tony Vargas, Head Coach and General Manager of the Selma Bandits, and extended an invitation to honor him. He wrote:
Big Coach Tony Vargas Head Coach and GM of Selma Bandits Has Gone Home. I and current Coaches are Inviting Current Former Players and Coaches to Join us Tonight in Honoring Him at Brentlinger Park. At 5pm Please Keep His Family in your Prayers
Patrick Pizana thanked Tony for being the mentor who inspired him to step into coaching via a post, which reads:
Never wanted to post this but R.I.P to the man the legend the face of the Selma Bandits Organization Tony Vargas you will always be loved and missed by many..your the reason why I wanted to be a coach and try to be a great coach and a role model to these kids just like you..Love You ALWAYS Coach Tony..BANDITS HIT HARD!!
Patrick PizanaJonathan Vega, Tony’s ex-student, shared an eulogy, writing:
RIP To My ex Coach Tony Vargas! So unreal this is going on, just seen you the other day at the party laughing and smiling and having a good talk with you like always! One of the best and realest Coaches I might! May you Rest In Peace! 🕊️❤️ Selma Bandits Hit Hard!

So far, the details surrounding his funeral and memorial services haven’t been published by his family.
