Spikes Baseball and AAU Basketball Coach Bruce Fleck’s Death Leaves a Lasting Impact on His Family and Community

The community of Ferdinand is mourning Bruce Fleck’s death after he passed away on Tuesday, August 26, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was 48 years old.
Bruce was born on September 10, 1976, in Jasper to Gilbert and Sylvia (Hopf) Fleck.
He lived a life centered on family, faith, and service to others. After graduating from Forest Park High School in 1995, he continued his education at DePaul University, where he played on the baseball team and built lifelong friendships.

Together, they built a family that became the cornerstone of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey, their daughter Grace, and their two sons, Grant and Reid. Bruce’s parents, Gilbert and Sylvia, also survive him, along with his brother Brad (Sara) Fleck and nieces Loren and Hannah.
Bruce was preceded in death by his brother, Ryan Fleck.
Throughout his career, Bruce worked as a Manufacturing Warehouse Manager for Kimball International.
Outside of work, he dedicated much of his time to coaching youth sports, where his passion for mentoring young athletes shone.
He coached Ferdinand Little League, Spikes Baseball, and AAU Basketball, leaving a mark on many children and families who learned from his leadership.
Bruce also remained deeply connected to his faith and community.
He was a member of Christ the King Parish at St. Ferdinand Church, Forest Park Letterman’s Club, and Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
His commitment to service and fellowship reflected the values he carried throughout his life.
Funeral services for Bruce will take place on Saturday, August 30, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Friends and family may pay their respects at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand on Friday, August 29, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, August 30, from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m.
Bruce Fleck’s death has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the wider community.
He will be remembered not only for his professional dedication but also for the kindness, guidance, and love he shared with everyone around him.
