Texas Based Softball Coach, Mark Plott Passes Away at 52, Leaving His Wife and Two Children Behind

He was reportedly battling with a Brain Cancer!

Mark Plott, the Houston, Texas-based softball/baseball coach, passed away at 52 after a long battle with cancer. Everyone who knows him as a coach will remember his “1,2,3 Boom” Catchphrase.

The coach was last discharged from the UTMB Jennie Sealy Hospital on September 15 after a week in the hospital, before getting admitted again after his health condition got worse.

Mark had regular health checks and doctor consultations, but even with tons of prayers from his family, friends, and players, he took his final breath on 30th September, 2026.

Hundreds of Tributes Pour for Mark

Unsurprisingly, many were left shocked after learning of Mark’s death, who leaves his wife, Shannon LaBlue Plott, a son, and a daughter behind. Mark and Shannon used to provide health updates regularly to their close ones on social media.

Mark was also a great role model for his son, who was a high school baseball player for the Clear Creek Wildcats.

Mark had a great reputation as a coach and had coached several teams over the years, including the USSSA Pride, Texas Express, Warriors Academy, and even helped his daughter secure the 2019 Fall State Championship Triumph.

He was also a great professional, dad, husband, and fighter, who battled with a tumor for over four years. A softball coach also shared an experience with Mark: “Blessed to have known you and even play against you, brother. Rest easy.”

Another individual added, “Praying for the family and all of the softball community that had the pleasure of knowing him.”

Hundreds of people, including relatives and friends, have offered condolences to the Plott Family regarding the loss of their beloved softball coach, who also supported a small #TeamPlott movement aimed at improving the coach’s situation.

Although Mark is no longer with us, his coaching, kindness, and humility will undoubtedly impact many young athletes and individuals in the years to come/

He was a highly influential figure in the local softball community and was more than just a coach. A Proud parent of Mark’s student shared, “We lost a good one, thank you, Mark Plott for giving Jay her first chance at the top level.”

Many individuals were also blessed to play for his team, play against him, and are now praying for his family and close ones during this challenging situation.
