Glenn Hall, a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender, followed his wife, Pauline Patrick, to heaven at the age of 94 on January 7, 2026.

They lived happily together for 55 years and had four children.

Glenn Henry Hall, aka Mr. Goalie, was one of the most dependable and innovative goaltenders in hockey history.

The Canadian star played in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks, and St. Louis Blues. He was famous for his incredible consistency and durability, rarely missing a game.

His greatest legacy is his style of play, which was recognized with numerous awards, including the Calder Memorial Trophy and the Vezina Trophy.

Glenn was the first goalie to develop and perfect the “butterfly” technique, which is now used by almost every modern goaltender. He was named one of the NHL’s 100 Greatest Players in 2017.

Glenn Hall’s name became synonymous with excellence, resilience, and grace in the world of professional hockey.

He and his wife, Pauline, built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and shared devotion. His greatest source of pride and joy was his family.

Pauline was his constant supporter and partner for 55 years, creating a warm and vibrant home which was Glenn’s true sanctuary.

Their enduring partnership was the foundation upon which everything else was built.

Glenn Hall was a legend, and I was a big fan of his. He set the standard for every goaltender who followed. His toughness and consistency defined what it meant to play the position.

Glenn was a devoted father to their four children: Pat (Deb) Hall, Leslie (Tom) Stevenson, Tammy Mennie, and Lindsay Hall. His love for his family and his understated sense of humour made him an absolute delight.

Moreover, he was a cherished grandfather to nine, a doting great-grandfather to one, and a treasured friend to many.

He embraced the Windsor community with genuine warmth and appreciation. He was always generous with his time, sharing stories and connecting with fans who became friends.

My personal appreciation of the late Glenn Hall. To me, Mr. Goalie was a dear friend who also happened to be a superstar netminder. Glenn’s brilliance in goal and his love of his family and his land, combined with his wonderful sense of humour, made him an absolute delight. I’m privileged to have known him as I did.

Glenn and Pauline are survived by their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends who will forever cherish their memory.

A private family service will be held to celebrate the life of a Hockey Hall of Famer.

Glenn is now at peace, reunited with his dear Pauline. He will be deeply missed, but his legend and his love endure.

Rest In Peace, Glenn Henry Hall.
