Tragedy on I-81: Fall Branch Athlete Mason Childers Remembered After Fatal Crash

Mason Childers, a standout athlete from Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away in a tragic car accident at the 9-mile marker on I-81 at 4:30 pm.
He played basketball and baseball at Fall Branch.
Emergency crews, including the Morristown Emergency and Rescue Squad, Morristown-Hamblen Emergency Medical Service, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, responded to the scene.
The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office and Casper’s Wrecker Service also assisted. Units remained on the scene until approximately 6:51 p.m.
Further details regarding the cause of the accident have not yet been released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, which is leading the investigation.
Childers’ passing has sent a wave of grief through the community, where he was remembered as a promising young man.

I’ll forever tell people the great person you were crazy to think not even 2 years ago I got mad at you for no reason and then we made up turns out you were cool as fuck a genuine person who had nothing but good intentions getting to know you was the Funest shit ever not one moment did I see you I wasn’t laughing we talked everyday about hitting parlay and changing our lives talked to you not even 10 hours ago wish I said I love you homie before you headed out.
While the details of the accident near the 9-mile marker are still under investigation, the loss itself is a heartbreaking reminder of the fragility of life.
The community extends its deepest condolences and unwavering support to Childers’ loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.
Instead of flowers, to help ease the financial burden on his family as they navigate this period of profound grief.
