Beatrice (Tressa) Mahy Magnum, who worked at the athletic department at the University of Northern Colorado, died on Friday.
Tressa was born on September 5, 1939, at Peitaiho Beach, Hopei, China, to George Gordon Mahy Jr. and Helen Scott Mahy.
Her parents were Presbyterian missionaries who came from a long line of Godly missionaries who served in China, India, and Korea.
She spent her early childhood in China until the war in 1940, when her family moved to North Carolina.
They after the war. In 1949, they relocated to Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines, where they lived on the campus of Silliman University, where her father was a professor and Minister.
After returning to the U.S. in 1956, she graduated from Princeton High School in Princeton, New Jersey.
She earned her undergraduate degree at the College of Wooster in Ohio and later received her master’s degree from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Tressa worked at the University of Northern Colorado for over 20 years, first in the athletic department—where she became beloved for baking for the athletes and staff—and later in academic advising.

According to the sources, Beatrice (Tressa) Mahy Magnum passed away on Friday, August 29, 2026, at the age of 85. However, the cause of death has not been revealed.

The recitation of the rosary will be said at 1:30 p.m. before the funeral mass. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
Tressa will always be remembered for her unforgettable contribution to the athletic department of the University of Northern Colorado.

Beatrice And Her Husband, Rob, Were Blessed With Two Daughters
Beatrice met the love of her life, Robert J. Magum, while at the College of Wooster and later married in Germany on December 31, 1964.
Tressa and Rob began their as missionaries in Edea, Cameroon, West Africa, serving for two years before moving to Los Angeles, California, and later to Fresno, where Tressa gave birth to her children and embraced the role of a minister’s wife at the Presbyterian churches Rob pastored.
Their ministry and life together took them on many adventures—from Raton, New Mexico, to Canon City, Colorado, to Wichita Falls, Texas—before they eventually settled in Greeley, Colorado, where they made their long-term home.
They shared two daughters, Krista and Heather. Krista tied the knot with Mike, while Heather tied the knot with Mike.
Tressa and Rob also had three grandchildren: Anna Jordan, Julia Stein, and Drew Fielder.
They are mourning the death of their devoted and supportive mother, Beatrice (Tressa) Mahy Mangum.
