The sources confirmed that a former high school wrestler, Daniel Frishkorn has passed away.

Daniel Frishkorn was recognized as one of the most accomplished high school wrestlers in Virginia history.

A graduate of Great Bridge High School, he maintained a strong academic record with a 3.8 GPA while excelling in wrestling.

Frishkorn a four time Virginia State Champion and set a remarkable record with 182 career wins, making him the winningest wrestler in the state at the time.

His success extended beyond state competition. He won major national titles such as the Ironman Championship and the Beast of the East Championship in 2002.

He was also the NHSCA Senior National Champion at 130 pounds and earned Junior National Freestyle All American honors twice.

His performance placed him at the top of his weight class rankings by leading wrestling publications.

Frishkorn earned the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2003.

He later attended Oklahoma State University, where he became an NCAA Division I All American.

In addition to competing, he contributed to the sport by coaching youth wrestlers and assisting at camps.

As per various sources and media outlets, a famous wrestler Daniel Frishkorn sadly died in March 2026. However, the cause of death has not been officially revealed.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Daniel Frishkorn, one of the best to ever wear the Green and Gold. This loss is truly devastating for his friends and family, as well as the entire Wildcat community.

Moreover, The Pin Doctors, a sports promoter also took to their Facebook handle and offered heartfelt condolences.

Just heard some terrible news about a Virginia HS wrestling 🐐, NCAA AA for Oklahoma State and one of the toughest wrestlers my younger brother, Justin EVER competed against in his career named Daniel Frishkorn. I’ve heard from multiple sources now that he passed away. No, I do not know any details and those aren’t as important to me as much as wanting to let the Frishkorn family, and wrestling communities of Oklahoma State and Virginia that they are in my thoughts. He was incredible with his tilt series and his ankle pick was unstoppable.

Joshua Deckelman who studied along with Daniel also remembered him following the tragic news. He wrote,

Daniel was my guardian along with Justin Otis my 8th grade year at Baylor while my dad was deployed overseas. Some good memories. Daniel was a legend in the sport of wrestling and I’m thankful I got to know him. RIP Daniel Frishkorn.

National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum also wrote,

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Daniel Frishkorn, who was the Virginia and Southeast Region winner of our Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2003. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Other relatives and friends also offered their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Daniel’s family to stay strong.

The funeral service schedule has not been revealed by his family.
