American football coach Brent Pry has been married to his wife Amy since 1997, and the couple shares three children.

Brent Pry has now been hired back by Virginia Tech as the team’s defensive coordinator under new head coach James Franklin.

Before Franklin’s arrival, Brent Pry himself served as the head coach of Virginia Tech, but he was fired early in the 2026 season.

This situation, being fired and then rehired by the same school in a similar role, is considered quite unusual in college football history.

Former Virginia Tech Head Coach Brent Pry Is a Family Man, Having a Wife of Over 25 Years and Three Children!

Brent Pry has been married to his wife, Amy Pry, since June 14, 1997.

Not much detail about Brent’s wife, Amy, is available. What is known is that the couple shares three children together: a son, Colby, and two daughters, Madeline and Catherine.

Among the three, their son Colby is the oldest. Like his father, Colby also seems to be connected to Virginia Tech.

While not much is known about Brent’s daughters, his elder daughter, Madeline, is in high school and plays volleyball.

Brent is often described as a family man by his colleagues and co-workers, and he is often seen spending time with his wife and kids.

While his children are now raised and in high school, he now seems to be focusing once again on Virginia Tech, while his wife helps balance the family.

In Case You Don’t Know

  • Apart from Virginia Tech, Brent once served as defensive coordinator at Penn State from 2012 to 2026.
  • Under his leadership, Penn State’s defense ranked top 20 nationally in total defense multiple seasons.
  • Brent’s father, Jim Pry, was also a footbal player; he played college football at Marshall and built a career as a long-time college coach.
