According to reports, Larissa Rodriguez, who co-captained the Varsity Cheer Team, passed away on Monday.
Larissa held leadership positions, including Student Council President, was an esteemed member of the National Honor Society as Parliamentarian, and co-captained the Varsity Cheer Team at Weslaco High School.
She was a proud participant in the Latina in Progress Program and was recognized as a UCA All-American Cheerleader and UCA Staff Candidate.
A decorated leader, she proudly earned accolades that included Miss Texas Onion Fest in Weslaco and Junior Miss Weslaco, alongside numerous service awards that highlighted her commitment to local charities.
She was instrumental in initiatives such as Flip Flops to the World and Socktober, demonstrating her compassion and desire to uplift those in need.
Co-Captain Of Cheer Team Larissa Rodriguez Died At The Age Of 17
The sources revealed that Larissa Rodriguez, a co-captain of the cheer team, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2026, at the age of 17.
However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Bonnie Hernandez, who works at KYWW Puro Tejano 1530 AM, took to her official handle and mourned the tragic death of Larissa. She wrote,

As a parent who has endured the unimaginable pain of losing a child, I struggle to put my emotions into words, as the grief of losing a child is an unbearable sorrow that no parent should ever have to bear. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for having had the pleasure of knowing Larissa Nicole Rodriguez and observing her servant heart 💜 in action as she volunteered yearly to help me with our pageant contestants in the Earth Angels Foundation pageants.

It’s with heavy hearts that Weslaco High School and the Rodriguez family share the passing of our beloved Larissa Rodriguez, Weslaco High School Cheer Co-Captain, Student Council President, and NHS Parliamentarian. Larissa was a vital member of our community. She was a member of BPA, FFA, tennis manager, Hidalgo County Cotillion, and Miss Texas Onion Fest 2026. Larissa was a true leader. She was a source of light, love, and strength for everyone around her. Whether she was leading a chant on the sidelines or organizing events to bring our school together, she did everything with passion, kindness, and Panther pride.
As per Larissa’s , viewing services will be held at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco – Chapel of the Angels on October 23, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM.
A second viewing will commence on October 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, concluding with a Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco at 2:00 PM.
Larissa will always be remembered for her unforgettable contributions as a co-captain of the cheer team.
