Former Twin Valley South Multi-Sports Athlete Chandler Ulrich Mourns His Father, Dr. John Ulrich, Renowned West Alexandria Veterinarian: ‘His Sacrifice Is Something I Could Never Repay’

The West Alexandria, Ohio, community is mourning the untimely death of beloved native and longtime veterinarian, Dr. John Ulrich.

Dr. John Warren Ulrich passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2026, at an untimely age of 53, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.

While the family hasn’t disclosed the cause of his untimely demise, John’s son, Chandler Ulrich, a renowned local athlete and former Twin Valley South High School basketball, baseball, and football standout, took to Instagram to pay tribute to his late father.

Expressing his sorrow, Chandler Ulrich shared several beautiful pictures of his beloved father, John Ulrich, and wrote:

“Most of you knew him as Dr. Ulrich, but I had the privilege of calling him Dad. The sacrifice he made his whole life for me and my older brothers after our mother passed away when I was 5, is just something I could never repay. Losing both parents before 20 is humbling to say the least. I will always miss jamming to Chris Stapleton while he is sewing up an animal ❤️”

The untimely death of Dr. John Ulrich has left a profound void in the lives of Chandler Ulrich and his siblings, who have now lost both of their parents.

Chandler lost his mother, Melissa Dickson Ulrich, Dr. Ulrich’s first wife, when he was just five years old. Now, he faces the heartbreaking reality of losing both his parents.

Furthermore, Dr. John Ulrich touched the lives of many in the West Alexandria, Ohio, community with his kind-hearted and helpful nature and his contributions as a great veterinarian.

Many of his loved ones are recalling the memories of the late John Ulrich on social media and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

In addition to Chandler Ulrich, Dr. John Ulrich is survived by his other five children, Cailey, Logan, Connor, Grant, and Cole, his beloved wife, Danielle, his four siblings, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The Late Dr. John Ulrich Owned His Own Veterinary Clinic

The late was born on April 12, 1972, in Dayton, Ohio, to Dr. Mark and Carolyn Ulrich.

A 1990 graduate of Twin Valley South High School, he briefly studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati before attending The Ohio State University, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1998.

Following in his father’s footsteps as a veterinarian, Dr. Ulrich built a distinguished career spanning over two decades, serving both small and large animals.

He worked at Martinsburg Vet Clinic and Michigana Farms early in his career before founding and operating Twin Valley Veterinary Services in West Alexandria, Ohio, where he dedicated more than 20 years to his community.

John lived on his family farm with his wife and six children, surrounded by cattle, three donkeys, two cats, and three Brittany dogs named Rusty, Roscoe, and River.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing with his boys and spent Saturdays cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.

Known for his compassion, dedication, and deep commitment to both his family and his profession, the late Dr. John Ulrich leaves behind a lasting legacy in veterinary medicine and a profound impact on all who knew him.

His family has organized a and funeral service on Wednesday, November 26, 2026. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, Ohio.
