Weston, Idaho community mourns 14-year-old multi-sport athlete Joshua Landon Kolbe, survived by parents Tyler and Katie and his siblings

The Weston, Idaho, community is mourning the untimely death of beloved native and standout athlete Joshua Kolbe.

Joshua Kolbe on January 5, 2026, in his family’s house in Weston, Idaho, at an untimely age of 14; however, details surrounding his death are not yet disclosed by his family.

Born on September 11, 2011, Joshua Landon was a cherished member of the Idaho sports community and touched the lives of many with his kind and cheerful nature.

He excelled in multiple sports, including baseball and footbal,l and won numerous honorable titles with his remarkable performances.

Joshua played football for the West Side school boys football team pirates and baseball for the Preston Boys baseball team.

Furthermore, the untimely passing of Joshua Kolbe has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends and loved ones.

Many of his loved ones are sharing Joshua’s memories on social media and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

His aunt Amelia Kolbe wrote:

“He is so deeply loved, will be forever missed, and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We all love you to the moon and back bud 🤍”

Another loved one added:

“There are no words for this. We are heartbroken to loose a friend and baseball teammate! Josh brought a lot of light to our Preston boys baseball team! 💔”

Joshua Kolbe is Survived By His Parents, Siblings and The Entire Family

In addition to being an amazing athlete, Joshua Kolbe was a great son to his parents, Tyler and Katie Kolbe, whom he loved immensely.

He was also a great big brother to his siblings, River Kolbe, Lilyth Kolbe, and Damiana Rodriguez.

While his family hasn’t released a statement regarding the untimely demise of their beloved Joshua, the Weston, Idaho community has created a to help ease the financial burden of the family as they grieve the loss.

The GoFundMe revealed that the Kolbe family has faced immense challenges over the last few years. Joshua’s father, Tyler, has been unable to work much due to surgery and ongoing medical issues, while his mother, Katie, worked two or more jobs to keep the family running.

Despite hardships, the family has always been a source of strength and support for those in need, so during this challenging time, the community gathers together to help them.

Joshua Kolbe’s contribution to the Idaho community as a great athlete and his kind nature will always be remembered.

The family organized a visitation on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Weston LDS Church at 27 N. Center St., Weston, Idaho.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Dayton LDS Church at 825 N Westside Hwy, Dayton, Idaho. Followed by burial services at Weston City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
