17-Year-Old Cedar City, Utah Native and Canyon View High School Football Standout, Elyn Brown Severely Burned in Life-Threatening Fire, Community Rallies in Support

The Cedar City, Utah, community is rallying around beloved native and athlete Elyn Brown after a devastating fire left him severely burned and hospitalized.
According to a family member, 17-year-old Elyn Brown, a vibrant and beloved student-athlete from Cedar City, Utah, was involved in a life-threatening fire accident earlier this week that has shaken his family and community.
Elyn’s mother, Heidi, received a call alerting her to the emergency after the devastating incident.
Elyn suffered severe burns covering 53% of his body, including 12% second-degree burns and the remainder third-degree burns.
He was airlifted to a specialized burn center, where doctors have placed him in a medically induced coma expected to last at least 10 days.
His recovery will be extensive, with multiple surgeries and procedures anticipated over the course of at least three months.

Elyn Brown is a talented multi-sport athlete from Canyon View High School in Cedar City, Utah, set to graduate in 2026.
A dedicated , Elyn has contributed significantly to the Canyon View JV Football team, playing on the offensive and defensive lines (#68).
He began his high school football career as a freshman in 2026, wearing jersey #60, and has steadily developed his skills each year.
In addition to football, Elyn excels in track and field, specializing in the shot put.
At the Region 12 Championship on May 8, 2026, he recorded an impressive throw of 39 feet, 11.75 inches, earning a strong showing in the varsity boys’ competition.
Furthermore, during this challenging time, community members are rallying around Elyn, offering support to his family as he faces this challenging journey and praying for his speedy recovery.
The Cedar City, Utah, community has also created a GoFundMe to help Elyn’s family ease the financial burden of travel, lodging, medical bills and childcare.
The GoFundMe post reads:
