Security cameras captured Cabral, the former basketball player who competed for Brazil at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, throwing over 60 punches at Juliana, as a result of which she is left with severe injuries, including multiple fractures to her face and jaw.

After the police’s arrival, Juliana was rushed to Walfredo Gurgel Hospital.
Reportedly, she requires reconstructive surgery due to the damage to her face and jaw, but the procedure was delayed because of swelling.

During his police deposition, Cabral he had a “claustrophobic episode” and admitted to using cocaine. However, authorities dismissed these as excuses for his actions.
On top of that, he also showed a lack of remorse by mocking the police and refusing to sign documents.
After his arrest, Cabral was placed in preventive detention at the Parnamirim Reception and Triage Center, where he shares a cell with six other inmates.
He requested solitary confinement, claiming he fears for his safety due to threats from a criminal group and the public sharing of his home addresses online.
However, the Rio Grande do Norte Penitentiary Administration denied his request, stating he is in an “insurance cell” with fewer prisoners than normal cells for his safety.
They also noted that Cabral is undergoing health evaluations and an adaptation period before being transferred to another prison.
Reports also suggest Cabral has a history of aggressive behavior, including a previous altercation in Caicó, which police are now investigating.
Meanwhile, Juliana’s friend started an online fundraiser to help cover her medical and legal costs. Likewise, Juliana is also receiving psychological support to cope with the trauma.
The case has sparked outrage across Brazil, with many calling for justice using hashtags like #JustiçaPorJuliana on social media.
