Westport, Connecticut Native and Former Staples High School Multi-Sport Athlete Jordan Kranz, 31, Dies After Courageous Cancer Battle

Jordan David Kranz, a Westport, Connecticut, and former athlete, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2026, at an untimely age of 31 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

According to page, Jordan faced several health challenges beginning at age 14. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and a recurrent brain tumor first appeared when he was 15.

Despite undergoing three brain surgeries and multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation with grace and bravery, Jordan Kranz died on Monday after his battle with cancer.

Furthermore, the untimely death of Jordan Kranz has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.

Born on July 15, 1994, to parents Raechel and Steven Kranz in Westport, Jordan Kranz touched many lives with his amazing athletic skills and kind, cheerful nature.

He was a standout student-athlete at Staples High School, excelling in multiple sports, including football and lacrosse.

Standing 5’10” tall, both wide receiver and defensive back for the boys’ varsity football team at Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut, from which he graduated in 2012.

Wearing jersey number 27, during his senior year with Staples, the team posted an impressive 11–1 overall record, including a 9–0 league mark, finishing second and earning national and state rankings of #1072 and #5, respectively.

He also earned the prestigious Scholar-Athlete Award while in high school.

While Jordan Kranz didn’t pursue his athletic journey professionally, he continued his academic journey at The University of Pennsylvania, earning dual degrees in Mathematics and Economics in 2016.

He was also a proud member of the Fraternity OZ while at College.

Late Jordan Kranz Was Pursuing His Career in the Banking Sector

was thriving in his career as an investment banking professional working with several renowned companies.

From 2026 until his recent passing, Jordan served as a vice president in life sciences investment banking at Bank of America in New York.

Prior to that, he served as a healthcare investment banking associate at Bank of America for over a year.

Before joining Bank of America, Jordan Kranz worked for five years at Mizuho as a healthcare investment banking analyst and banking associate, and as a summer intern at O’Shaughnessy Asset Management in Stamford, CT.

In addition to being an amazing athlete and banking professional, Jordan Kranz was a great son to his parents and a loving partner to his fiancée, Lauren Halpert.

Jordan and Lauren got engaged in December 2026 and were planning to tie the knot soon.

Apart from his parents, Raechel and Steven, and his loving partner, Lauren, Jordan Kranz is survived by his siblings, sisters, Brooke (Jordan) Sheiner and Colby Kranz, brother Carson Kranz, and the entire family.

His contributions to the community and his kind, brave nature will always remain in the hearts of his loved ones.

  • Funeral Services of Jordan Kranz will be held on Thursday, October 30th, at 3:00 PM at The Gardens of Boca Raton, 4103 N. Military Trail, Boca Raton, Florida.
  • Shiva to be held at the Kranz residence on Thursday following the service until 9:00 PM; Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM; Saturday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM; and Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
  • In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jordan’s memory to the American Brain Tumor Association or Breakthrough T1D.
