A 16-year-old Francis Scott Key High School varsity football player, Seven Ernesto Rupp, best known as Seven Rupp, from Westminster, Maryland, passed away on Monday morning, December 15, 2026, after fighting hard against severe injuries from a car accident that happened earlier in the month.
Reportedly, the accident took place on the evening of December 2, 2026, along Jasontown Road near John Hyde Road.
A Ford F-250 pickup truck carrying 5 teenage boys from the area was heading east when the driver couldn’t make a turn properly.
The vehicle veered off the road, slid down an embankment, flipped over several times, and ended up on its roof, partly submerged in Little Pipe Creek.
One of the boys, 16-year-old Cash Owings, who was in the front seat and also attended Francis Scott Key High School, died soon after the crash from his injuries.
The other three teens were hurt but eventually released from the hospital.
Whereas Seven, sitting in the back seat, suffered the most severe damage, i.e., a serious traumatic brain injury that required several surgeries, including ones where doctors removed parts of his skull on both sides to reduce dangerous swelling and give his brain room to heal.
He was rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he stayed on a ventilator and heavily sedated for weeks as his body tried to recover.
Seven Rupp is survived by his father, Lucas Rupp; his sister, Ava Rose; his grandfather, Daniel Malone; his aunt, Casi Densmore, and extended family.
It was his father who raised him and his sister, Ava, alone after their mother passed away from cancer years earlier.
Seven’s mother, Sarah Beth Redmer Rupp, passed away fighting cancer on January 8, 2012, at the age of 30.
