A 19-year-old baseball player, Kaden Jade-Scot Marcum, got in a car accident on August 27, 2026, that put him in the hospital in a critical condition.

The next day, on August 28, 2026, Kaden succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident.

Tragically, he died just four months after celebrating his 19th birthday on April 28, 2026.

Kaden is survived by his parents, Jade and Janice Kelley Marcum; his sister, Brynna Bartlett; and his brother, Kaisun Marcum.

He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Wilda Kelley, brother-in-law, Aaron Bartlett, and extended family.

Kaden’s sister, Brynna, asked for prayers as he was on life support.

need a miracle right now everyone please pray for my brother Kaden 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Likewise, she also updated her Facebook profile picture to one featuring Kaden with the caption, “love you always and forever.”

However, here’s where things get a bit confusing, and it’s essential to clarify that right away.

Some thought Kaden had already passed right away, but that’s not quite right.

He was still alive on in the hospital after the crash, and his family was asking for prayers while they figured things out.

At 3 p.m. that afternoon, they made the difficult decision to take him off the machines. That’s when an honor walk took place at St. Francis Hospital, right outside the SICU hallway.

Kaden’s impact didn’t stop with his passing. He was registered as an organ donor, and through that, he’s set to save eight lives.

One story that’s really hit home is how the mom of an organ recipient got to hug Kaden’s mom that day. Her daughter got three extra years because of a decision just like this.

Likewise, through tissue donation, he is also touching even more people.

Kaden’s cousin’s wife, Katelyn Weathers, set up a called “Supporting the Marcum Family in Loving Memory of Kaden” to cover funeral costs and other expenses.

Born on April 28, 2006, had a passion for baseball. He played with the Hutchinson Baseball Club, including on a team called the Salt Packers.

One time, he even dove safely across home plate with two outs in the final inning to clinch a win for the team.

His coach remembered him as a solid third baseman, batting fifth in the lineup, and always a steady presence.

The club shared the news of his passing with a heavy heart, sending prayers to his family and friends.

Our prayers go out to Kaden’s family and friends as they grieve his passing. He is now truly safe at home!

So far, details about his funeral services have yet to be published by his family as they are grieving in private.

During this difficult time, we pray for the strength of Kaden’s parents, siblings, friends, teammates, and extended family.

Rest In Heavenly Peace, Kaden Marcum!
