Manual High School Football Player Lamelo Gilbert Elisha Passed Away After Sustaining Multiple Gunshot Wound!

Elisha Lamelo Gilbert, a high school football player from Peoria, Illinois, passed away on October 26, 2026, at the young age of 20.

He died from multiple gunshot wounds sustained during a shooting that occurred around 8:18 p.m. in the 3200 block of North Isabell Avenue.

He in a vehicle and transported to OSF Healthcare, where he was pronounced dead at 8:59 p.m. due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The Peoria Police Department responded to reports of gunfire and launched an investigation.

As of now, police have not publicly named any suspects or confirmed any arrests directly related to his case.

The Peoria Community Is Mourning The Loss Of Lamelo Gilbert Elisha

was a talented high school football player from Peoria, Illinois, known for his athleticism and dedication.

He played both cornerback and running back at Manual High School as a part of the Class of 2026, wearing #4.

Additionally, he also briefly appeared on Peoria Notre Dame’s roster.

Standing 5’10” and weighing 180 lbs, Lamelo also competed in track and field.

His football highlights included a 45-yard run and a two-point conversion in a dominant win over Urbana High School, with additional standout performances against Normal Community and Lincoln Community High School.

Though his team faced a challenging season, Lamelo’s individual contributions and leadership were widely recognized.

He briefly appeared on Peoria Notre Dame’s roster, suggesting a possible transfer or dual enrollment.

Lamelo Gilbert Elisha’s passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, school, teammates, and the entire Peoria community.

People in Peoria are mourning Lamelo Gilbert Elisha’s death with deep sadness, remembering him as a joyful, loyal, and uplifting presence.

Coach Harvey Burnett, Head Coach of Manual Men’s Track & Field, offered heartfelt condolences, saying:

With the heaviest of hearts, the Manual Runnin’ Rams Men’s Track & Field Team says goodbye to one of our greatest athletes and team leaders, Elisha “Lamelo” Gilbert.

May his family be forever blessed, comforted, and strengthened during this time, and may Melo Rest In Power until we all meet again in that Great Day of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
