Isaiah Noel Romero, a beloved football player from Salinas High School, tragically passed away on September 12, 2026, at just 20 years old
He was affectionately called “Zay Zay” by his friends and family members.
Isaiah Romero was a passionate Multi-Sport Athlete at SHS!
2026 graduate Isaiah Romero was a .
He was a dedicated football player for the Salinas Cowboys, where he played as a linebacker.
Wearing jersey #46, he made over 100 tackles during his senior year from 2026 to 2026.
Moreover, Isaiah helped lead the Salinas Cowboys to a strong 10–2 overall record, a first-place 5–1 finish in league play, and a state ranking of #63.
He earned multiple Defensive Player of the Game honors during high-stakes playoff matchups against Sacred Heart Prep and Serra High School.
In addition to football, Romero also played freshman basketball wearing jersey #21.
He was known for his versatility, leadership, and teamwork, which made him a respected figure both on and off the field.

The community of Salinas is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Isaiah Romero, a beloved resident whose sudden passing earlier this week has left family, friends, and neighbors devastated. Known for his infectious energy, bright smile, and warm personality, Isaiah touched the lives of countless people, leaving behind cherished memories.
Isaiah’s greatest love was for his family and friends, who remember him as a loyal companion and a source of joy. His spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him, as the community comes together to honor his life and legacy

Romero’s family announced that his uncle and aunt will be hosting a BBQ fundraiser on 19 September in honor of their godson.
Likewise, his life was honored through a series of heartfelt gatherings. A public visitation is scheduled for September 23, 2026, at Alta Vista Mortuary.
The following day, September 24, a funeral service will be held, followed by his burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Later that day, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds in Salinas.
