His love for Philadelphia extended to its food scene, where he was always eager to try a new restaurant, though he found equal joy in the kitchen learning to cook for those he loved.

If you havent heard already, my best friend Freddie recently lost his battle with cancer. He had an amazing sense of humor and comedic timing, a huge passion for sports, a surprisingly good singing voice, was a great husband and father, and was one of the best people, and friends, I have ever known.
If you were friends with Freddie, feel free to share some memories with everyone or pay your respects at his viewing/funeral this Friday and Saturday. And if you are able, please consider donating to his 3 month old son AJ’s scholarship fund or donating to help fund cancer research, all of the links for which you should be able to find in his obituary below.
If you also are able to, please share his obituary with anyone else who knew Freddie and may want to pay their respects as well. Thanks so much everyone.

John J. Lewis, an organist at The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, wrote,

I was so sad to hear of the passing of Freddie Reichel, a friend I made in college in a gen ed course, outside of the world of music. It was a blessing to sit next to someone who didn’t know me in my musical capacities, and just have a friend to look forward to seeing in class. We even worked on a group project about the subculture psychology of “fangirling”. I used to stack my starbursts according to color, and he would knock them over on purpose.
I had no clue he was suffering with such a rare and fatal disease over these past few years. But I feel so lucky to have known Freddie and wish him the most peaceful rest. May there be stacks of starbursts for you to destroy in a jenga-type mentality.

In the comment section, Christine Coyne, a graduate of John W. Hallahan High School, wrote,

May he rest in peace I’m sorry for the loss of your friend, John .

Denise Lingsch-Corrigan, who studied music education and performance at Shenandoah University, ,

John, I’m so sorry for your loss of your dear friend. May Freddie rest in peace.

Other close ones and relatives have offered their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Alfred’s family to stay strong.

Those who wish to pay their respects are invited to greet Fred’s family on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Freed Givnish Funeral Home located at 124 N Easton Rd., Glenside, PA 19038.

A second visitation will take place Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by his Funeral Service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. John’s Anglican Church, 1150 Bristol Rd, Southampton, PA 18966.

Rest in Peace, Alfred “Fred” Reichel.
