Ethan Dietz, a Conway, Arkansas native and beloved collegiate basketball player, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2026, at an untimely age of 20, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.
According, Ethan Dietz, a sophomore and standout basketball player at Connors State College, passed away on Tuesday, days after suffering an injury during a men’s basketball game against Grayson College.
Dietz was injured in the second half of the game on Saturday and was immediately transported to a hospital in Warner, Oklahoma, where he received care.
However, despite endless effort, Ethan Dietz succumbed to his injuries and took his last breath at the hospital, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
The specific nature of the injury leading to his death has not been publicly released.
Born on September 12, 2005, to mother Krysti Dietz, Ethan Dietz began his athletic career from a very young age and was a cherished member of the Conway sports community.
Ethan began his athletic career at Vilonia High School, playing as a PF and C for the boys’ varsity basketball team.
Wearing jersey #20 and standing at a towering height of 6’8”, Ethan led his high school team in several victories, graduating in 2026.
Furthermore, he continued his basketball journey at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma, where he excelled and aspired to become a professional player.
The untimely passing of Ethan Dietz has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.
While his mother, Krysti Dietz, a longtime employee and senior director of delivery at Acxiom, hasn’t released any statement regarding Ethan’s passing, she shared a beautiful picture of her beloved son on social media, paying tribute to him.
Social Media is Filled With Heartfelt Condolences To Late Ethan Dietz’s Family
The whole Conway, Arkansas, community is mourning the loss of their beloved native and athlete, Ethan Dietz, and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Furthermore, many of his loved ones are sharing memories of Ethan on social media.
His longtime girlfriend, Shelbee Clark, shared a beautiful picture of them on social media and wrote, “I love you, sweet boy.“
Similarly, Connors State College also took to its official social media page to express its sorrow.
In response to the loss, Connors State College canceled the men’s basketball team’s upcoming games against SAU Tech and Grayson College, as well as the women’s team’s games against Neosho County and Labette County.
A vigil in Dietz’s honor has been scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, December 1, in the Nero Fine Arts Building on the Warner campus.
The college is offering free counseling to students, faculty, and staff through a partnership with Green Country Behavioral Health, and Connors State College’s Timely Care is available 24/7 for virtual care, self-care, and well-being support.
College officials said that Ethan exemplified hard work, teamwork, and community spirit, and that his loss has profoundly affected the Cowboy family, friends, and the local community.
Ethan Dietz’s family will soon provide details about his funeral and memorial services.
