Dean E. Schott II, a former high school basketball coach and teaching assistant at Lyons Central School District in New York, was arrested on August 5, 2026, following allegations of sexual abuse involving a former student.

The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred in April 2019.

Schott, who had been employed by the district for over 20 years, resigned in April 2026 after the district received a report of the alleged misconduct.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation, leading to Schott’s arrest and subsequent arraignment on charges of third-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree sexual abuse.

He was arraigned on August 6, 2026, and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Because the charges are not bail-eligible under New York State law, he was released on his recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on October 8, 2026.
