Ethan Schultz, a 20-year-old from New York, tragically lost his life on Thursday morning in a hit-and-run accident along Interstate 80.
While assisting a stranded tractor-trailer driver as part of his job at TravelCenters of America, and killed instantly by a passing truck.
The driver fled the scene without offering help or calling for assistance.
Fortunately, authorities acted swiftly, and by Thursday evening, the suspect had been located and taken into custody.
Ethan was just one day away from celebrating his 21st birthday.
Ethan Schultz’s Father Expressed Deep Sorrow, Saying, “We Are Devastated, We’ve Been Robbed of The Gift of Watching Him Grow Further“
had a deep love for sports during his high school years. He especially enjoyed playing frisbee football, baseball, and college football.
He graduated from high school with a strong love for sports and hands-on work.
Later, he was enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served aboard the USS Oak Hill until a hand injury led to an honorable discharge.
After returning home, Ethan focused on building a career in diesel technology. He began working at TravelCenters of America, providing roadside assistance to truck drivers.
He was passionate about his job and determined to grow in his field.
In a heartbreaking tribute, Ethan’s father, , described his son as “a friendly and outgoing young man,” full of humor, kindness, and depth.
He recalled Ethan’s love for Mustangs, horses, his dog Chloe, and sports like frisbee football and baseball.
Ethan had charted his own spiritual path and proudly financed his own car.
His father shared the pain of losing a son who was not only a classic American teenager but also a deeply reflective soul.
He expressed gratitude to the New Jersey State Police for swiftly locating and arresting the suspect.
Furthermore, he said:
None of that brings Ethan home. Heartbreaking. Gone way too soon. Ethan didn’t deserve this. But somewhere down the road he will get justice.
Moreover, the family invites friends and loved ones to honor Ethan’s memory at a memorial service on Sunday, November 2.
They even encourage donations in his name to Tunnel to Towers.
Many people, including community members, family, and loved ones, paid heartfelt tribute to Ethan Schultz.
One of their nearest ones expressed their sorrow and support for his grieving family, saying:
