Former Pottsville Area School District Head Football Coach Kevin Keating Passes Away, Leaving Behind A Legacy Of Leadership!

Kevin Keating, a beloved figure in Pennsylvania high school football, tragically passed away, leaving behind his family and the entire community.

While the cause of his demise is not known, his passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him as a coach, a mentor, and a friend.

Kevin Keating Was A Hall Of Fame Whose Legacy Stretched Far Beyond The Scoreboard!

Kevin Keating was a proud graduate of Pottsville Area High School, Class of 1973.

He served as head football coach at Pottsville from 1986 to 1999. Again, from 2003 to 2012, he guided his teams to two appearances in the PIAA Class 3A state title game.

Later, he coached Shenandoah Valley from 2017 to 2019, continuing to inspire young athletes with his passion for the game.

In recognition of his outstanding career, Keating was inducted into the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018.

Following his passing, many of his teammates, friends, family members, and the entire Coal Region community mourned the loss.

One of his former students shared:

Prayers to the entire family. Coach Keating was more than just a great coach, he was a terrific teacher and mentor. I was fortunate to have had him as all 3 in my life. RIP coach. And ROLL TIDE.

Likewise, the posted a heartfelt tribute, saying:

On behalf of the entire staff at T102 Sports Now, our condolences to the family and friends of former head football coach Kevin Keating, who passed away earlier today. Great man. Great coach. Rest in peace, coach. Roll Tid

Similarly, the PAHS Class of 1973 also announced his passing, saying:

It was just announced that our classmate Kevin Keating has passed away.

He was not only a great coach, but a great man. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Kevin Keating’s family, friends, and well-wishers.
