Blake Bonar, a Louisville, Kentucky native and MLOL athlete, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 14, 2026, at an untimely age of 14, leaving his loved ones heartbroken.
While his family has not yet disclosed the details surrounding the untimely death of , many of his loved ones are paying tribute to him and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Blake Bonar won the hearts of many with his amazing athletic skills playing baseball for the Miracle League of Louisville, a specialized baseball organizaion for children and adults with physical, congnitive and emotional disabilities.
He also played baseball at his school, Phoenix School of Discovery.
MLOL took to its official social media to pay tribute to their athlete and extend heartfelt condolences to his family.
The post reads:
“Miracle League friends and families please pray for the family and friends of our MLOL athlete, Blake Bonar. Blake passed away unexpectedly on Sunday. He will be greatly missed on and off of the baseball field, but we are thankful for the wonderful memories of him smiling and enjoying the game of baseball. Rest in peace young man, you will live on in our hearts ~ 💔🙏🏻.”
Another added:
“I’ve known this very special boy since he was born. This is such a heartbreaking loss. For anyone coming to the services, please wear red (Blake’s favorite color).”
Blake Bonar is Survived By His Parents, Rob and Christy, Siblings, and The Entire Family
In addition to being an exceptional baseball player, Blake Bonar was also a great son to his parents.
Blake Robert Bonar was born on June 20, 2011, in Louisville, Kentucky, as the youngest of three children to father, Robert ‘Rob’ Bruce Bonar, and Christy Ames.
He has two elder sisters named Brooke Bonar and Kate Bonar.
While his father, , is not very active on social media and prefers to maintain a low profile, his mother, Christy Ames, often shares pictures of Blake Bonar expressing her love and pride for him.
Likewise, both of his parents are pursuing their careers as attorneys.
His father, Rob Bonar, has been serving as the Assistant United States Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice since 2007.
Similarly, Blake’s mother, , has been serving as the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, EVP at Republic Bank & Trust Company in Louisville since 2018.
Prior to that, Christy served as counsel and Chair of the Financial Institutions Litigation Group at Stites & Harbison, PLLC, for over ten years, and as General Counsel at First Residential Mortgage Network (now Surepoint Lending) for five years.
She also served as an associate of Greenebaum Doll and McDonald for two years.
Christy earned her BA in Political Science from the University of Louisville, where she currently serves on the board of directors in the Audit, Compliance, & Risk Management Committee.
She also earned her JD from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1998.
In addition to his parents and sisters, Blake Bonar is survived by his grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and the whole family.

- Visitation for Blake Bonar’s memorial service will be on Wednesday, September 17, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Highlands Funeral Home, located at 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky.
- His funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Drive, Louisville, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
