As per the district officials, Jake Brown, an assistant principal, ice hockey player, and coach, tragically passed away.

Jake Brown’s official profile indicated that he was originally from Lewiston, Maine, but currently lived in Scarborough, Maine.

He went to Lewiston High School and later graduated from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.

Brown served as an assistant principal at Scarborough High School and as an 18U coach at the Biddeford Youth Hockey Association.

According to the reports, hockey player and coach Jake Brown passed away in September 2026. However, the exact cause of death has not been revealed yet.

Superintendent Diane Nadeau announced Brown’s tragic death on Sunday, September 14, 2026, in a letter to families, calling him “a beloved member of our school community, whose care and commitment touched the lives of many students, staff, and families.

The school announced that it will not hold regular classes or vocational programming on Monday, September 15, 2026.

They further announced that students may come to the school beginning at 10 a.m. for access to counseling and support.

According to a community message from Principal Nathan Theriault, attendance will not be taken.

Buses will with return trips available throughout the day, including the usual end-of-day 2:25 p.m. run.

Counselors from the regional partner will be available to meet with students and staff. The school expects another two-hour delay on Tuesday before returning to an academic schedule.

Moreover, Biddeford Youth Hockey Association took to their official handle and mourned the death of coach Jake Brown. They ,

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved 18U coach, Jake Brown. We will forever be thankful for your impact on the players at BYHA on and off the ice. A great coach is hard to find, but impossible to forget. We will always remember Coach Brown for his dedication and passion. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and players.

Preston Poussard, a general sales manager at Hyundai of Saco, also took to his official Facebook handle and offered his heartfelt condolences. He wrote,

Jake Brown left a real impact on these young men. Tonight, they came together in prayer to honor and remember him.

Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Jake’s family to stay strong in this challenging time.

Jake Brown Is Survived By His Wife, Lauren Brown

As per Jake’s Facebook , he was married to Lauren Brown on October 1, 2026.

Lauren was a team member of the Scarborough Field Hockey team during his high school time.

Sadly, their ended after two years following the tragic death of Jake Brown.

Relatives and friends have poured their heartfelt condolences to Lauren to stay strong in this difficult time.
