Despite sharing the same surname, NFL player Daniel Bellinger and MLB player Cody Bellinger are not related. In fact, they come from completely different families and play entirely different sports.

Cody Bellinger is an American professional baseball player who is an outfielder and first baseman for the New York Yankees of MLB.
He formerly played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs. The Dodgers selected the Scottsdale native in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB draft. He debuted with them in 2017.
Cody is having a big season with the Yankees in 2026. He became their second-best player after Aaron Judge. In 140 games, he’s hitting .274 with 28 home runs, 93 RBIs, 80 runs, and 11 stolen bases.
On the other hand, Daniel Bellinger is an American professional football tight end and fullback for the New York Giants of the NFL.
The Las Vegas native played college football for the San Diego State Aztecs. In his career, Daniel has often been the Giants’ main blocking tight end.
He has also been the team’s primary fullback since 2026. Daniel had a strong Week 1 for the Giants, becoming the highest-graded player on the team after a loss to the Commanders.
He caught his only target for 14 yards and excelled in run-blocking (78.7) and pass-blocking (73.9).

The New York Yankees outfielder was born on July 13, 1995, in Scottsdale, Arizona, to his parents, Clay and Jennifer Bellinger.
The MLB player’s mom works for Sotheby’s International Realty, and his dad played for the New York Yankees and Anaheim Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1999 to 2002.
In addition, Clay also won two World Series in that span. Cody’s father also coached the Chandler, Arizona, National Little League team when they went to the 2007 Little League World Series (LLWS).
Cody was only 11, a year younger than most of his Little League World Series teammates, but he helped his team reach the series by driving in four runs in the Little League West Regional.
Back then, Chandler made it to the LLWS in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, but lost in the semifinals to teams from Lubbock, Texas, and Warner Robins, Georgia.
A few years later, Bellinger became a star player at Hamilton High School in Chandler. He was named team MVP as a junior and senior and hit .429 in his senior year.
Although the Yankees invited him to a pre-draft practice, most teams weren’t interested in picking him high because he was 6’4″ but only 170 pounds and hit just one home run that season.

The football tight end was born on September 22, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to his parents, Frank and Renee Bellinger. He has two siblings.
He grew up in his hometown and attended Palo Verde High School. In an , Daniel said he owes much of his success to his parents, Frank and Renee Bellinger.
They pushed me to be where I am today and always believed in me when others didn’t,” he said.
The NFL player added, “My dad has always pushed me to be the best athlete, student, and person I can be. Without his guidance, I’m not sure I’d be here today.”
