Odessa College Runner Gage Broomall Dies At 20 After Collapsing During Practice
Gage Broomall is survived by his parents, and three siblings.

Gage Broomall died after collapsing at the start of cross-country practice on Thursday, September 4, 2026, at Odessa College.
The 20-year-old student-athlete, Gage Broomall, was beginning a training session for the cross-country team on Thursday when he suddenly collapsed.
Despite the quick response of the emergency personnel, Broomall did not survive.
The Odessa College shared a message on its Facebook page, writing:
It is with great sadness that Odessa College shares the news of the passing of Gage Broomall, a second-year student-athlete from Hallsville, Texas.
Odessa CollegeGage Broomall was in his second year at Odessa College and a member of the Wranglers’ cross-country team.
After graduating from high school, he accepted a full-ride scholarship from Odessa College to run cross country and track.
Gage Broomall began his college running career in August of 2026. During his freshman year, he competed in the NJCAA Cross Country National Championship and the NJCAA Indoor Track National Championship.
Moreover, in the NJCAA Indoor Track, he earned his title of All-American in the Distance Medley Relay. He was also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Devastated Family And Friends Mourn The Passing Of Gage Broomall
Gage Broomall was born to his mother, Ashley Broomall, and father, Matthew Broomall. He spent the first four years of his life on Sunflower Drive in Overgaard, Arizona.
Then, Gage’s family moved to Hallsville, Texas, in September of 2010. Then, he was enrolled in Little Cats Preschool and remained a student in the Hallsville School District till May 2026.
Moreover, Gage Broomall joined the cross-country team at school in 7th grade.

This quite may be the most heartbreaking and tragic news I’ve heard in a while. This saddens me to the core of my heart and words cannot portray how devastating this is to me. You will be truly missed Gage. It was a blessing and an honor to run beside you from 8th to 12th grade. I love you as a teammate and as a friend. May God take great care of you in His kingdom.
The funeral service was held on Friday, September 19, 2026, at 10 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
